St. Lucia

Ben and I had a great experience in the month of December. We were given the chance to serve as facilitators of a leadership workshop in St. Lucia. The College was sending out a Christmas mission team and the contact expressed a desire to have some workshops take place. As I am getting a master's in organizational leadership and Ben is getting his in international development, this was a great chance for us to share some of our skills.

St. Lucia is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. It was deeply hit by Hurricane Tomas in October 2010. We were there just a few months after, December 17-21 and could still visibly see some of the damage on the island.
Overall, it was really such a wonderful experience. Ben and I grew so much closer in our relationship as we learned how to both serve in this new role, together. We sure did have some major nerves serving in this capacity. The night before our workshop, we were both in the middle of reviewing our plans when we looked at each other and wondered to each other what WE were doing...Well, even though we didn't know what We were doing, the Lord knew what He was doing. Our workshop went really well. About 25 different church leaders attended and discussed servant leadership, empowerment, personality types, etc. We pray that the lessons we discussed are still being thought about and challenged. We really enjoyed the chance to learn from those participating in the workshop. I know I learned a lot from them and I pray they learned a few new things from us.
Here are some pictures from our short stay:
Um...well, I can't get anymore pictures posted up tonight...so pictures to be continued.
